My background and journey to Foot Health Practitioner (FHP):

I have previously worked as an Environmental Scientist in the public and private sector. I am a keen hockey player and I am motivated to help people stay active and mobile on their feet as long as possible.

Following my mother’s stroke, I decided to pursue my interest in foot health care and trained as a Foot Health Practitioner, graduating from the SMAE Institute in Maidenhead. I work as an FHP in the Bideford and Barnstaple area, providing foot health care visits for my clients.

Healthy feet are vital to keep us mobile and independent and yet our feet may often be forgotten and neglected during our personal care. As we get older it becomes more difficult to reach our feet and when conditions such as arthritis and/or diabetes occur, it is even more important to keep our feet healthy and prevent and monitor the treatment of injuries.

This is where a local Foot Health Professional, Podiatrist or Chiropodist can help you. As an FHP I offer home visits to provide regular nail care including nail trimming, thickened nail reduction and ingrowing nail management. I provide diabetic foot care and treat corns, calluses and cracked heels. I offer advice on the treatment of fungal nail and verrucae. I am a member of the Open College of Foot Health Professionals (MCFHP) and a member of the British Association of Foot health Professionals (MAFHP). I am bound by the Code of Ethics and Rules of the Association, and professionally insured.

I regularly participate in Foot Health Care Continued Professional Development (CPD) to broaden my knowledge and ensure I am up to date with the latest research and practices.
